Hunky Dory Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Jan-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is tightly concentrated with intense and up-front aromas of herbaceous fruits, combining gooseberries, green herbs and minerally notes. Dry to taste and with a medium-full body, intense flavours of gooseberries and herbs reveal lifted florals with passionfruit and minerally elements. The mouthfeel is brisk, brash and bracing with mouthwatering acidity, with some phenolic textures present, carrying the flavours. The palate leads to a pungent, flinty finish with fresh herb nuances. This is a crisp and bold, mouthwatering Sauvignon Blanc with herbaceous flavours. Match with salads and vegetables, and with Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from Rapaura, the ‘Strawlodge’ and ‘Andahlane’ vineyards on the West Coast road in the Upper Wairau Valley, and from ‘Windrush’, fermented to 13.5% alc. and 4.0 g/L RS. 17.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP$16.00
