Hua Pono Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - North Island
Review Date : 17-Mar-2014
Bright, light golden-green hued straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is softly full with aromas of ripe tropical fruits, herbs, stonefruits and waxy, flinty elements revealing some savoury, secondary nuances. Dry to taste and moderately full-bodied, restrained, but open flavours of tropical fruits, herbs and gooseberry fruit show with some savoury, musky layers. The fruit is a little diffuse, but is supported by good body and mouthfeel. A light textural thread and crisp acidity carries the flavours to a light, nuanced finish. This is a fulsome and open Sauvignon Blanc with musky, savoury, herb-nuanced fruit. Match with Mediterranean fare, salads and vegetables over the next 2 years. Fruit from the ‘Ohui’ vineyard, Coromandel, grown to organic principles, cool-fermented with indigenous yeasts to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 6 months on lees. 16.0/20 Mar 2014 RRP $24.95
