Howard Park ‘Miamup’ Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - Western Australia
Review Date : 20-Apr-2015
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour. This has a classical varietal blackcurranty Cabernet Sauvignon nose, just beginning to show some savoury development. On palate quite luscious and sweet, with clear-cut blackcurrant fruit flavours. The mouthfeel features fine-grained, dry tannins with good grip and linearity. The acidity is balanced, enabling the structure to carry the wine to a dry finish with leaf and minty notes. A classical varietally-expressed Cabernet Sauvignon. 5-6+ years. Fruit from Wilyabrup and Wildwood Road, Margaret River, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 15 months in French oak barriques. 18.0-/20 Apr 2015 RRP $33.95 Fruit from Wilyabrup and Wildwood Road, Margaret River, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 15 months in French oak barriques. Dark, deep, black-red colour with some garnet on rim. Fresh and intensely firm blackberry and blackcurrant leaf aromas show on bouquet, unfolding black plum, savoury olive and herb notes along with mint. Medium-full bodied, well-concentrated flavours of blackcurrants, plums and blackberries reveal layers of olive, eucalypt and cedary oak in the background. Fine grainy tannins combine with the acidity to provide a firm line with good drive. The mouthfeel is elegant and tightly bound and carries with linearity to a lingering finish with black fruits and minerally notes. This is an elegant, concentrated and firm Cabernet Sauvignon. Match with grilled and roasted red meat dishes over the next 6-10 years. 18.0/20 Apr 2014 RRP $33.00
