Howard Park ‘Leston’ Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - Western Australia
Review Date : 20-Apr-2015
Full, very dark, deep, black-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is very tightly concentrated and tightly bound with vibrant and aromatic blackcurrant fruit. This shows great purity, focus and clarity, the oaking very sensitive. Spice elements, mint and a touch of eucalypt emerge with time in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the concentration and depth of the blackcurrant fruit is the feature on palate. The extraction matches the fruit depth, with considerable fine-grained, flowery tannin grip lending a firm structure and line. The ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and cassis flavours are carried by the tannins and enlivened by excellent acidity, and driven by alcoholic power, to a very long and sustained finish. This has the fruit depth and structure to last 15+ years. Fruit from the ‘Leston’ vineyard, Margaret River, fermented to 14.2% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 40% new French oak barriques. 18.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $45.00
