Howard Park ‘Leston’ Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - Western Australia
Review Date : 04-Apr-2014
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour. This has an elegantly concentrated nose of pure, well-ripened blackcurranty fruit lifted with aromatic elements and fine, cedary oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate is tightly concentrated with refined blackcurrant and cassis fruit flavours showing sweetness and varietal purity. The fruit is supported and driven by very fine-grained, powdery tannins, providing a very smooth-flowing palate. This has significant extraction that grows to match the fruit succulence and richness. Sensitive and subtle oaking lends a aromatic cedary layer, and the wine carries through to a long, sustained finish with cassis flavours. This is a refined Cabernet Sauvignon with fruit richness and subtle cedar elements balanced by powdery tannins. Match with roasted lamb and beef dishes and hard cheeses over the next 10-12 years. Fruit from the ‘Leston’ vineyard, Margaret River, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 40% new French oak barriques. 18.5/20 Apr 2014 RRP $44.00
