Hopesgrove Single Vineyard Estate Chardonnay 2018, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 15-Jan-2021
Bright, medium straw-yellow with a gold hue, even colour throughout. The nose is soft and gentle, nuances of stonefruit, citrus interweave moderate vanillin and toasty oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate is packed with aromas of ripe yellow apricots and plums, melded with vanilla, baguette and toasty oak elements. The fruit is ripe, contribute to a full and round palate along with creamy lees detail. Acidity is integrated and sufficient to support a fresh palate, allow the oak elements to express, added fine-textured phenolic and spices to a lingering finish. This is stonefruit-flavoured Chardonnay with generous fruit, toasty oak on a creamy palate. Match with crispy-skin chicken and lean pork roast over the next 4+ years. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed, 100% barrel fermented in French oak barrels to 13% alc with indigenous yeast, lees stirred, full MLF. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Jan 2021 RRP $35
