Hopesgrove Pinot Noir 2020, Hawke’s Bay

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 08-Jun-2021
Bright, ruby-red with good transparency, even colour throughout. The nose is gently full and elegant with vibrancy, nuances of red berries, red cherries melded with spices, black pepper and toasty oak. Medium-full bodied, bright aromas of red cherries and berries supported by lacy acidity, black pepper, cinnamon persist on the palate with fine-grained, silky tannin, appeared with a light grip. The mouthfeel is round-edged and creamy, linger with spices to a long, sustained finish. Match with crispy pork belly and lamb loin over the next 3-5 years. 100% destemmed, cold-soaked for 5 days, wild-fermented in open-top fermenter to 13% alc. Aged in Fench barriques for 9 months, 20% new oak, minimal sulphur. 140 cases produced. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) June 2021 RRP $30
