Hopesgrove ‘Estate’ Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2015

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 01-Oct-2016
Bright, light golden color with some depth, a little paler on the rim. The nose is reserved in expression, with a concentrated core of apricots and yellow stonefruits harmoniously entwined with musky notes, nutty oak and complexing reductive flinty nuances and lemon-curd MLF. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, restrained flavours of apricots and exotic yellow stonefruits show with musk, creamy MLF and nutty oak, and form a complex amalgam with reductive flint, mineral and earthy notes. The mouthfeel is mellow with soft acidity and rounded textures, underlined by a fine phenolic thread, and the wine carries to a soft, light finish with complex apricot, flint and nutty nuances. This Viognier is reserved in expression with complex apricot, nutty oak and flinty reductive flavours on a soft palate. Second crop wine, fully indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned barrels to 13.75% alc., the wine aged 12 months in oak with batonnage and 100% MLF. 16.5+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $29.50
