First crop Viognier, hand-picked, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with no sulphur to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak barriques with batonnage and 100% MLF. Bright straw-yellow colour with light green-golden hues, paler on edge. The nose is softly fresh, with full aromas of ripe apricots, tropical fruits and harmonious layers of citrus zest, along with chalky mineral and apricot kernel detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate features a firm and concentrated core of fresh, bright and vibrant apricot and yellow stonefruit flavours. The fruit reveals citrus zest and apricot kernel elements, the fruit showing subtle lusciousness and richness. The wine has some alcohol drive and flows along a fine, smooth-textured line, with balanced, fresh acidity enlivening the mouthfeel, carryring through to a long, exotic, floral finish that blossoms in volume. This is a concentrated and firmly driven Viognier with richness, liveliness and power. Match with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 4+ years. 105 cases made. 18.0/20 Aug 2015 RRP $30.00
