Hopesgrove Estate Chardonnay 2019, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Jul-2021
Bright, pale yellow with some depth, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is bright and pure with aromas of melon, stonefruit and citrus mix, interweave soft butter, toasty oak and cashew. Full-bodied, aromas of melon, stonefruit have a pure core, melded with toffee, toasty and nutty oak element in well-proportion. Elegant mouthfeel elevated by a soft buttery flow and a textural phenolic line. The fruit has concentration and intensity, compliment the toasty oak details, linger to a sustained, long finish. This elegant Chardonnay has fruit intensity and balanced oak details. Match with roasted guinea fowl and pumpkin confit with dukkah over the next 5+ years. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed, indigenous yeast fermented in 100% French oak barrels to 13.5% alc, lees stirred, full MLF. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) July 2021 RRP $35
