Hogshead Old Vine Shiraz 2021, South Australia

Shiraz from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 16-Aug-2022
Deep, ruby-red with a purple hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is generous and upfront, showing aromas of ripe blackberry, black plum and blueberry entwined with vanilla and a hint of meatiness. Full-bodied, bright flavours of blackberry, plum and blueberry come through on the finish, melded with a hint of herb, meatiness and vanilla. The palate is mouth-filling with chewy textured tannins, lightened up by bright, juicy acidity. This South Australia Shiraz is generous and bold with excellent fruit and structure. Match with barbeque lamb and grilled steak over the next 3-5 years. Fruit is sourced from dry-grown vineyards in central South Australia and low-yielding McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley vineyards, destemmed, long cool fermentation, partially in stainless steel, partially in seasoned French and American oak for three months and partially in 300L French Hogshead barrels, 14.9% alc. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) Aug 2022 RRP $22
