Hogshead Old Vine Shiraz 2020, South Australia

Shiraz from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 24-Feb-2021
Deep, moderate ruby-red with a purple hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and upfront, the glass is filled with red plums, blackberries, melded with sweet vanilla, black pepper and toasty oak. Full-bodied, aromas of blackberry jam, red plums filled the palate, along with vanilla and toast. The jammy fruit is upfront and lush with good acidity support; ripe, grainy tannin coated the palate with a smooth texture. Classic South Australian Shiraz. Match with antipasto and grilled meat over the next 2 years. 100% Shiraz from Lower Murray, McLaren Vale & Langhorne Creek, destemmed, long cool maceration with regular pumping over. Matured in a combination of stainless steel, French and American barrels for three months and French Hogshead barrels. 14.9% alc. 16.5/20 pts (83 pts) Feb 2021 RRP $25
