Hihi Gisborne Albarino 2015

Other White from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 21-Feb-2016
Full, bright, even, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is packed with aromas of fresh tropical fruits, herbs and confectionary along with lifted fermentation esters, honeysuckle and a touch of the seaside. The aromatics have intensity and penetration. Medium to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate possesses flavours of tropical fruit, honeysuckle and confectionary interwoven with sweet herbs, caramel and toffee. The mouthfeel is fresh with good acid liveliness, underlined by some alcoholic drive, and follows a light, textural line. As the wine flows the sweetness emerges and carries the wine to a confectionary flavoured finish. This is a medium Albarino with some confectionary flavours and a fresh mouthfeel, carried by the sugar to the finish. Serve with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 2-3 years. Estate fruit from Bond Road, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.4% alc. and 14 g/L RS, TA 6.9 g/L and pH 3.41. 16.5-/20 Feb 2016 RRP $19.00
