Bright, light straw-yellow colour, paler on the rim. This has a finely presented nose with a tight core of gooseberry fruit with nuances of passionfruit, the aromatics a little reserved in expression. Fresh herb and capsicum elements unfold and the nose shows softening and the beginnings of secondary bean-like interest with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly concentrated with a heart of gooseberry fruit along with subtle passionfruit, capsicum and secondary bean flavours. The mouthfeel is beginning to round, but fresh acidity provides a thirst-quenching mouthfeel. The wine carries with good energy to a lingering, fine, dry-textured finish with gooseberry and bean nuances. This is an elegantly concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry fruit and a mouthwatering plate, just beginning to soften and show secondary interest. Serve with Mediterranean fare, and salads and vegetables over the next 18 months to 2 years. MS clone fruit from the Southern Valleys, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.1% alc. and 1.2 g/L RS, the wine aged 8 months on lees. 17.5-/20 Jul 2016 RRP $24.50
