Bright, pale straw colour, lighter on the rim. This has a moderately full and voluminous bouquet with deep aromas of pungent passionfruit and fragrant herbs harmoniously interwoven with subtle secondary bean elements. Tropical fruit and capsicum notes emerge to add richness, along with chalky, mineral nuances. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has a tight, but smooth-flowing core of sweet, pungent passionfruit, bean and capsicum flavours. This is restrained in expression, but shows a good rounded heart and line, the wine guided by a fine, phenolic thread, and slippery, racy acidity. The wine carries with plenty of energy to a dry, racy finish with blackcurrant leaf and passionfruit nuances. This is an elegantly concentrated, slippery, smooth-flowing Sauvignon Blanc with restrained passionfruit flavours and some secondary bean-like development. Match with salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 18 months to 2 years. MS clone fruit from the Wairau Valley fermented in stainless-steel to 12.8% alc. and 2.8 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on lees. 17.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $24.50
