Heart of Gold Gisborne Syrah/Tempranillo 2009

Blended Red from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 21-Feb-2013
A unusual blend that seems natural for Spain or Australia. 63% Syrah, 37% Tempranillo, this was wild yeast fermented and aged 7 months in 40% new French oak equivalence. Medium deep ruby red in colour. This has a lovely waxy-red berry nose with cedar and spices, a little shy at present. Medium-bodied at 12.8% alc., this is an elegant red with floral lift, black pepper and spice from the Syrah, and dark chocolate flavours with fine, but firm tannins providing excellent grip and structure through the palate. The fruit sweetness carries through well to the finish. 215 cases made. 18.0/20 Oct 2010 RRP $24.95 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade', the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews' operates
