Heart of Gold Gisborne Albarino 2012

Other White from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 21-Feb-2013
Fruit from the ‘Spade Oak' vineyard fermented to 11.6% alc. and 2 g/L rs, the wine seeing no oak or lees contact. Bright straw-yellow colour with the faintest suggestion of blush, pale on rim. This has a softly fresh and full, aromatic nose of passionfruit with notes of exotic yellow florals and stonefruits with nuances of musk, herbs and earth. Dry, crisp and tightly bound, this is elegantly structured but possesses underlying depth and a firm line. Passionfruit and mineral infused floral flavours show with purity and are driven by crisp, firm acidity. The wine appears on the austere side, but reveals a subtle richness and more weight in the glass which carries through to a long, linear finish. This is a crisp, racy and firm Albarino with passionfruity flavours that will reveal greater richness over the next3-4 years. Match with seafood. 450 bottles made. Release date to be advised. 17.5/20 Aug 2012 RRP $24.95 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade', the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews' operates
