Hawkshead Pinot Gris 2022, Central Otago

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 03-Mar-2023
Bright, pale straw yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full and elegant, with aromas of pear and apple lead citrus, perfume, white flower and delicate spice. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, pear and apple aromas entwined with ginger powder, lily and citrus peels. The mouthfeel is textural and silky; fine acidity drives a crisp, elegant finish. This Pinot Gris is beautifully aromatic with a refined texture and good length. Match with lemongrass steamed fish and zucchini fritters over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Gisston (45%) and Cromwell Basin (55%), whole bunch pressed, wild yeast fermented to 13.5% alc, 2 g/l RS, rested on lees for 4 months, 95% in stainless steel, 5% older French oak barriques. Vegan friendly. 18.5+/20 (94 pts) Mar 2023 RRP $34
