Hawksdrift Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Oct-2014
Bright, very pale straw, near colourless. The nose is fresh and full with softly pungent passionfruit aromas, opening with good volume, and building in depth and presence with aeration. Medium-light bodied, gentle and soft flavours of passionfruit form a good core and flow on a slippery palate with crisp, lacy acidity enlivening the mouthfeel. Some fine, grainy phenolics underline the fruit, and the textures carry the wine to a passionfruity, dry finish with a moderately lingering finish. This is a soft, lightly textured, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc. Serve with salads and vegetables, and with Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. Dillons Point fruit with a portion from Waihopi, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 5.9 g/L RS, the wine spending 4 months on lees. 16.5+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $TBA
