Hawke’s Bay Estate Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet 2009

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Feb-2011
Quite dark, deep, purple hued ruby-red in colour, this has a firm, moderately intense nose with dark berry, cassis and plum aromas, showing proper ripeness. Medium-weighted, this has dark berry flavours with some depth, framed within a firm, but not excessively extracted palate. The wine is lively and fresh, and finishes with attractive currant flavours along with notes of cedar. Fruit from the Gimblett Gravels fermented to 13.0% alc., with a portion matured in seasoned barriques. This will match most red meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. 15.5-/20 Feb 2011 RRP $15.00
