Harwood Hall Marlborough Syrah 2016

Syrah from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 20-Nov-2018
Even, dark ruby-red colour with purple hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is firmly packed and taut with aromas of dark raspberries with a little blackberry hint, along with spice notes and a little minerally reduction integrated with the fruit. Violet florals emerge with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate has a good core with well-concentrated flavours of dark raspberries and blackberries, along with spices and black pepper. The fruit forms a positive heart with good linearity, and is supported by fine-grained tannins lending some structure, and balanced fresh acidity for energy. The wine carries to an elegant finish. This is an elegantly concentrated Syrah with a firm heart of blackberry and raspberry fruit with fine tannins and freshness. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the company’s Rarangi vineyard, fermented to 13.2% alc., the wine aged 10 months in new and seasoned French oak barriques. 17.0+/20 Nov 2018 RRP $24.99
