Harvest Estate Martinborough Auslese Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 24-Dec-2014
Bright, light golden-yellow colour, pale edged. This has a very full, ripe nose of rose-petal florals entwined with aromas of root ginger, exotic musk, honey and herbs, along with some reductive hints. Medium sweet and medium-bodied, the flavours of honey, rose-petals, spices and florals form a soft, near unctuous, oily palate with a gentle lusciousness. Some root ginger and reduction is present, adding interest, and the flavours are guided by a very fine phenolic line. The mouthfeel is rounded and the wine flows smoothly to a light, honied finish with exotic yellow florals. This is a softly full and up-front, medium-sweet Gewurztraminer with musk, ginger and honied flavours. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare, semi-hard cheeses and light fruit desserts over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Omarere Road, fermented to 11.0% alc. and 47 g/L RS. 280 dozen made. 17.5/20 Dec 2014 RRP $39.00
