Harris Estate Waipara Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 03-May-2013
Hand-picked clone 10/5, 5 and 667 fruit fully destemmed and fermented by indigenous yeasts, the wine aged in barrel for 11 months. Dark purple-hued ruby-red colour with good depth, lighter on rim. The bouquet is light and elegant with fragrant aromas of violets and lifted black cherry fruit, unfolding a layer of dark herbs. Medium-bodied, this has a light and juicy core of black cherry and berry fruits with dark herb and spicy interest. The tannin extraction is balanced, supple and in proportion, providing fine-grained textures, and the mouthfeel is fresh and lively from good acidity. There is good harmony and the gentle flavours flow smoothly to a lingering, nuanced finish. This is an attractively light and harmonious Pinot Noir with fragrance and black cherry flavours. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. 17.0-/20 May 2013 RRP $39.00
