Harakeke Farm Nelson Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 06-Jun-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with pale green-gold hues. The nose is elegantly concentrated with densely packed aromas of savoury yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits, mealy aromas and nuts. There are interwoven butterscotch MLF and toasty elements in the melange. Medium-full bodied, the palate is concentrated and has a deep core of flavours that unfold soft layers of mealy stonefruits, nuts, biscuits, and buttery notes. Complexing oxidative detail adds to the interest. The fruit richness is enhanced by fine lacy acidity and along with very fine textures, the palate is carried to a very long and sustained finish with nutty nuances. This is a concentrated and densely layered Chardonnay with traditional savoury and nutty flavours. Match with rich poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5+ years. Third crop Mendoza and clone 95 fruit, hand-picked, WBP and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc. and aged 11 months in French oak puncheons, the wine undergoing MLF. 18.0+/20 Jun 2013 RRP $24.00
