Hans Herzog Marlborough Tempranillo 2011

Tempranillo from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Oct-2015
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red, very youthful in appearance. The nose shows attractively intense and fragrant aromas of savoury raspberry and plum fruit with lifted oak notes, this is very varietal with a nod to Rioja with the oaking. Elegant and refined on palate, the flavours of savoury plum and berry fruit are interwoven with subtle waves of sweet oak. The fruit is supported by very fine-grained tannin extraction, the wine silky in its flow. The palate carries to a very long and elegant finish. This will develop over the next 7-9+ years.. 100% Tempranillo, indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 15 days on skins and aged 18 months in 40% new French oak. 18.0+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $64.00
