Hans Herzog Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc ‘Sur Lie’ 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Oct-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour. The nose is deeply concentrated with aromas of nectarines and greengages, entwined with fresh, youthful gooseberry, cut grass and fresh herbal layers, the aromatics exuding a raw, primary aspect. Medium-full bodied, the fruit flavours of cut grass, gooseberries and tropical fruits are melded with green stonefruits and spices, nuts and subtle oak elements and exhibit a sweet, lusciousness. The palate has a firm and tight underlying core and line, and the mouthfeel enlivened by crisp and zesty acidity which enhances the fruitiness and lends some grip on the finish. This is youthful and still to come together, but shows the potential to develop over the next 4+ years. Fruit WBP and 20% stainless-steel ferments, and 80% indigenous yeast fermented in 500 L puncheons and aged 15 months on lees with MLF, the wine at 14.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS. 18.5-/20 Oct 2015 RRP $44.00
