Halliday Family Estate Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 31-Aug-2017
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with good heart, lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh and bright with ripe fruit aromas of dark red cherry and berry fruit harmoniously melded with a subtle layer of dark herbs, unfolding some aromatic oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and sweet, juicy flavours of dark cherries and berries, with subtle notes of dark herbs, revealing red florals and sweet oak. The fruit richness is underlined by light, supple grainy tannin extraction, with balanced, fresh acidity. The fruit flavours carry with good drive to a lingering, sweet, cherry-berry finish. This is a fresh, bright, sweet-fruited Pinot Noir with cherry and berry flavours along with herb nuances and aromatic oak on a lightly structured palate. Match with poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Fruit from the ‘Lone Gum’ vineyard destemmed and fermented to 14.3% alc., the wine aged approx. 10 month in 30% new French oak barriques. 17.5+/20 Sep 2017 RRP $25.95
