Halliday Family Estate Marlborough Chardonnay 2016

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 31-Aug-2017
Bright straw-yellow colour with pale golden hue and some depth. The nose is softly fresh with aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits, and subtle creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak notes, unfolding a little lemon-curd MLF. The aromatics show a gentle depth. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fresh and elegant, slender in presentation with moderately deep flavours of yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits, along with subtle creamy and nutty oak notes. The mouthfeel is lively and bright with fresh acidity and the wine flows with good linearity along a fine-textured phenolic thread leading to a lingering finish of citrus fruit, lemon-curd MLF notes and nutty oak. This is a bright and fresh Chardonnay with stonefruit and citrus flavours and subtle notes of nutty oak and MLF. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Lone Gum’ vineyard, 40% fermented in 50% new French oak to 13.1% alc., the wine 9 months on lees undergoing batonnage and partial MLF. 17.5-/20 Sep 2017 RRP $18.95
