Haha Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Jan-2014
Dark, deep, purple-ruby colour, very youthful in appearance. This has a full and softly voluminous nose with bold, ripe aromas of ripe raspberry fruit and dark red plums. The primary expression of the fruit exudes richness, with subtle oak spicing and red liquorice notes emerging to add detail. Medium-bodied, full, bold and ripe raspberry and plump plum fruit flavours are the feature on the palate, the mouthfeel one of sweetness and succulence. The wine is open and up-front, with supple, fine-grained tannins in support, enabling an easy flow and accessibility. Bright acidity enhances the fruit lift and provides excellent freshness and poise, carrying the flavours to a moderately long and sustained finish of dark plum notes. This is a bold, ripe fruited Pinot Noir with succulent flavours of raspberries and plums and great accessibility. Match with pasta, poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Clones 777, 667 and 115 from the Awatere and Lower Wairau valleys, hand-picked, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc. 60% of the wine was aged 6 months in oak, of which 5% was new. 18.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP $19.99
