Haha Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2018

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 17-Dec-2018
Dark, even ruby-red colour with purple hues, a little lighter on the rim, very youthful in appearance. The nose is softly full with up-front ripe fruit aromas of dark plums with boysenberry, blueberry and blackberry fruit, and an amalgam of violet florals, jam and a little confectionary. The aromatics are primary, uncomplicated, and accessible. Medium-bodied, the palate has rich, un-front, and uncomplicated, sweet and luscious flavours of ripe dark plums, a little liquorice along with boysenberries and blueberry jam, along with fragrant florals, and confectionary notes. The mouthfeel is soft and supported by light, supple tannins with integrated acidity. The flavours carry to a long, juicy, sweet finish with light textural grip. This is an up-front, primary-fruited Syrah with sweet plum, boysenberry and blueberry jam flavours on a supple-textured palate. Serve with pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 2-3 years. The Hawke’s Bay fruit, a blend of 99% Syrah with 1% Viognier, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine given oak contact. 16.5+/20 Dec 2018 RRP $24.99
