Haha Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Aug-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh, tightly bound and elegantly presented with aromas of white stonefruits along with a gentle amalgam of honeysuckle and herbs, unfolding minerally lees elements in the glass. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate possesses bright and luscious, up-front white stonefruit flavours entwined with white florals and honeysuckle, forming a good core with richness and linearity. The mouthfeel is youthfully fresh with lacy acidity providing energy, and the wine flows along a light-textured phenolic line, carrying to a moderately rich finish of honeysuckle and hints of exotic florals. This is an elegantly rich and bright, off-dry Pinot Gris with white stonefruits and florals, and good freshness. Match with Asian fare over the next 2-3 years. Hawke’s Bay fruit cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 8.1 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 17.0+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $15.99
