Haha Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 24-Jul-2015
Full, even, light straw-yellow colour with suggestions of gold and a blush to the hue. This has a soft, restrained nose that possesses good vinous presence, showing aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits and yellow florals, entwined with honeysuckle notes and nuances of rose-petal florals, musk and spices. A fresh, minerally element emerges to provide depth and brightness. Off-dry to taste, full, rich and bright fruit flavours of tropical fruits, yellow stonefruits, pears and honeysuckle fill the mouth. The fruit is supported by fine, grainy, phenolic textures, and along with some alcoholic power drives the palate with mouthfeel and depth. The acidity is integral, and along with the structure carries through to a fulsome, concentrated and dry-textured, honied finish. This is a mouthfilling, off-dry Pinot Gris with ripe, honied flavours and some phenolic structure. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. 100% Pinot Gris from Hawke’s Bay high country vineyards, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 7.9 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees undergoing batonnage. 17.5/20 Jul 2015 RRP $15.99
