Haberdasher Marlborough Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Oct-2012
Fruit mainly from a company estate vineyard in the upper Wairau Valley with some Nelson fruit included, cool-fermented to 13.39% alc. and 6.2 g/L rs. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with some green-gold hues, lighter on rim. This has a fresh, firm bouquet of white and yellow stonefruits along with savoury mineral, flint and herb aromas. Off-dry to taste, white stonefruit and pear flavours combine with minerals and flint to form a good core, with body and presence on the palate. Some alcohol warmth is noticeable which adds some sweetness to the fruit expression and mouthfeel. There is a little phenolic texture that keeps the palate dry, along with fresh and crisp acidity that carries through to a moderately sustained finish. This is a fresh, sweet-fruited Pinot Gris with weight and presence and a little alcohol heat adding some warmth. Match with Asian and Middle Easter cuisine over the next 2-3+ years. 16.0+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $12.99
