Gunn Estate ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 07-Aug-2016
Full, moderately deep, light golden-yellow colour, a little lighter on the edge. This has an elegantly proportioned and positively concentrated, fresh nose with aromas of yellow stonefruits and savoury citrus fruits intermingling with creamy, nutty barrel-ferment elements and a light layer of lemon-curd MLF. Medium-bodied, the flavours of yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits, nutty and creamy oak notes and lemon-curd are harmoniously balanced and form a moderately concentrated core with fine textures and good linear drive. The acidity is lacy and enlivens the mouthfeel, and carries the wine to a light, lingering finish of citrus fruit and lemon curd. This is an elegant and harmonious Chardonnay with a core of stonefruit and citrus fruit along with balanced oak and MLF flavours. Match with grilled and roasted seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. Hawke’s Bay fruit fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in French oak barriques undergoing batonnage. 17.5/20 Aug 2016 RRP $19.99
