Gunn Estate ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Mar-2014
A single vineyard wine, fermented in stainless-steel tank with French oak inserts to 13.5% alc., the wine undergoing 100% MLF. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. This has a fresh, elegant bouquet with an amalgam of aromas of citrus fruits, creamy barrel-ferment, subtle MLF butterscotch, flinty lees and nutty, spicy oak, the nose with attractive complexing detail. Medium-bodied, soft and restrained flavours of stonefruits feature on palate. The oak nuttiness and spiciness is subtle and the mouthfeel is light, fine-textured and dry, with crisp lacy acidity providing freshness and cut. Delicate butterscotch MLF nuances emerge and carry through to a softly crisp finish. Possessing a complex bouquet, this Chardonnay is crisp, light and subtle on palate. Serve with Mediterranean-influenced seafood and poultry dishes over the next 3+ years. 16.5+/20 Mar 2014 RRP $19.99
