Gumbo & Good North Canterbury Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 19-Jun-2018
Bright straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly packed with deep aromas of green stonefruits, greengages and nectarines with a layering of creamy and nutty oak, unfolding an array of dark herbs. This shows considerable complexity from the lees and oak input. Dry to taste and medium bodied, the palate has rich and rounded fruit flavours of savoury green stonefruits, along with nutty lees and creamy oak elements. This has good depth with concentration , unfolding herbal notes and a little green bean. The fruit richness provides a degree of unctuousness which is balanced by fresh, lacy acidity and a fine phenolic line which carries the palate to a lingering, light, dry-textured finish. This is a complex oak and lees-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with green stonefruit flavours and a layering of nutty lees and oak on a rounded palate. Match with herb-marinated poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 2 years. Fruit from the ‘Good Family’ vineyard, fermented to 13.0% alc., 20% of the wine aged 9 months on lees in seasoned oak. 17.5-/20 Jun 2018 RRP $22.99
