Gruss Alsace Gewurztraminer ‘Les Roches’ 2011

Gewurztraminer from France - Alsace
Review Date : 04-Jun-2013
Brilliant, full, straw-yellow colour with gold-green hues. The nose is full, broad and weighty with well packed aromas of rose-petal florals, complexing notes of earth, minerals, spices and ginger, and honey, all expressed with some stylish restraint. Medium-dry to medium to taste, this is full-bodied and weighty, with quietly building flavours of rose-petals, earth, honey and ginger. The mouthfeel is soft, hinting at unctuousness, the acidity balanced for delicate freshness. This is rounded with good presence and the palate leads to a subtly flavoured finish of florals and honey and a touch of varietal bitterness. This is a full, weighty, gently flavoured Gewurztraminer with a soft richness. Match with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from 1.7 ha of vines 35+ y.o. from the ‘Stribicher’ site, hand-picked and WBP, then fermented to 14.0% alc. and 29.2 g/L rs 875 dozen made. 18.0+/20 Mar 2013 RRP $35.00
