Grove Mill Wairau Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Apr-2014
Dijon clone fruit from the estate Seventeen Valley vineyard from 10 y.o. vines, fermented with approx. 5% whole cluster to 13.0% alc, the wine aged 10 months in 30% new French oak. Even ruby-red colour with light purple hues on rim. The nose is soft and full with aromas of dark raspberry fruit with harmoniously interwoven notes of dark plums and complexing minerally reduction, the bouquet growing in depth with aeration. Medium-bodied, a core of bright raspberry fruit and minerally flavours is the feature on palate, the fruit sweetness and richness unfolding to fill the mouth. Fine-grained and supple tannins support the fruit, providing a balanced texture and good drive. The acidity is soft, and the flavours flow smoothly to a rounded, dry finish with lingering raspberry liqueur nuances. This is a soft-textured and gently rich, dark-fruited Pinot Noir to serve with Mediterranean fare over the next 4+ years. 17.5-/20 Apr 2014 RRP $25.00
