Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-May-2023
Bright, even, pale yellow gold with some depth. The nose is gently full, with toasty nut aromas, struck-match, underlying melon, stonefruit and citrus. Medium-full bodied, aromas of melon and lemon melded with bitter almond, struck-match and creamy nuance. Vibrant, crisp acidity flows smoothly with nutty nuances; a creamy palate contributes to weight and roundness. Match with fried chicken and pork over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from Lower Wairau was gently pressed, settled then transferred to barrels for fermentation; 30% underwent wild MLF, regular lees stirred post-fermentation, aged in barrels for 11 months. 13.5% alc. 16.5/20 pts (85 pts) May 2023 RRP $23
