Gros Frere & Soeur Echezeaux Grand Cru 2011

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 27-Aug-2014
Medium-deep ruby-red with youthful purple hues, lighter on rim. This has a concentrated and deep nose with voluminous aromas of spicy, savoury dark red berry fruits entwined with funky, meaty notes, layers of dried herb whole-cluster complexities and some bacony oak. Medium-full bodied, lively and vibrantly luscious flavours of savoury red fruits, dried herbs, game and meat form a complex and detailed palate. The fruit reveals intermixed whole bunch stalk and stem lift, and the mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh, brisk acidity. Fine-grained tannins provide good texture, presence and substance, and the wine flows along a fine, lingering line. This complex and detailed wine will evolve over the next 7-10 years. From 2.11 ha, of which 1.69 ha is in ‘Les Loachausses’, 0.35 ha in ‘Les Beaumonts’, 0.04 ha in ‘Echezeaux du Dessus’ and 0.03 ha in ‘Les Cruots’. 18.5/20 Aug 2014 RRP $199.00
