Gros Frere et Soeur ‘En Musigni’ Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2009

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 29-Apr-2012
From a 1.5 ha parcel at the top section of the vineyard, across from Musigny. Deepish ruby-red with garnet hues on edge, lighter rim. This has a firm and tightly bound nose with ripe black fruit aromas lifted with violet florals and spicy oak. Reduction is intrusive initially but gradually decreases given air time. Medium-full bodied, this is initially restrained and dampened by the sulphides notes, with a little bitterness to the black berry and cherry fruit and violets. The oak is sensitive. There is real purity to the fruit which is aligned to the very fine-grained, serious extraction. Structurally this has excellent proportion. This should develop classically over the next 10+ years. 18.5-/20 Apr 2012 RRP $195.00
