Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with green hues and a pale rim. This has a full, voluminous nose of ripe gooseberries and passionfruit, the fruit showing density and concentration. Dry to taste, the palate is rich and fulsome, with soft, pungent passionfruit flavours that are mouthfilling. Restrained acidity contributes to soft and plush textures, but the wine has freshness, focus and liveliness. The finish is long and sustained, with soft, full flavours of tropical fruits. A rich and very flavoursome Sauvignon Blanc to match with seafood, poultry and creamy pasta dishes over the next 2+ years. Fruit sourced from sites in Woodbourne, Renwick and Rapaura, the majority cool-fermented in stainless-steel, with a small portion undergoing native yeast fermentation in seasoned French barriques, to 13.6% alc., the wine on lees four months. 18.5-/20 Nov 2011 RRP $26.95
