Greystone Waipara Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Sep-2014
Bright, even straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on rim. The nose is full and broad with up-front aromas of green stonefruits, nectarines and herbs and subtle, along with integrated flinty lees and spicy oak nuances. An ethereal floral and esters lift emerges with aeration, along with gooseberry fruit notes, the aromatics building in depth and intensity. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a delicately succulent core with flavours of yellow and green stonefruits, gooseberry flavours unfolding, with nutty, spicy oak detail. Some flinty lees work adds interest. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with lacy acidity and a fine textural thread that leads to a dry, light finish with cooler herb and gooseberry elements. This is a fresh, elegant, cooler Sauvignon Blanc with fine and subtle, complexing oak and flinty detail. Serve with herb-marinated seafood and poultry dishes over the next 3 years. Clone 376 and 530 fruit 85% indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with 3 months aging on lees, and 15% tank fermented. 12.5% alc. 2,300 cases made. 18.0/20 Sep 2014 RRP $24.00
