Greystone Waipara Valley Riesling 2014

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 23-Apr-2015
Brilliant, pale straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. This has an elegant nose of lime and lemon fruit entwined with exotic yellow florals and subtle honey and steely, mouthwatering minerally elements. The aromatics blossom in volume, revealing musk and talc-like botrytis detail. Medium-sweet to taste and light-bodied, the palate possesses a restrained core with harmoniously integrated flavours of citrus fruits, jasmine florals, honey and musky botrytis. This is smooth-flowing and rounded in mouthfeel, with underlying lacy acidity and energy carrying the wine. An amalgam of citrus and minerals emerges, leading to a soft, long-lingering finish with piquant, refreshing acidity. This is a smooth-flowing medium Riesling with citrus, floral, honied and musky flavours, and fine acidity. Serve as an aperitif or with mildly spicy Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked fruit from four upper slope blocks, a small portion botrytised, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 10.0% alc. and 33 g/L RS, TA 7.08 g/L and pH 3.29, and bottled with some natural CO2. 18.0+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $27.00
