Greystone Waipara Valley Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 11-May-2015
Bright, light golden straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, paler edged. The bouquet is full, soft and seamlessly interwoven with rich and complex aromas of ripe lime and lemon citrus fruit, exotic yellow florals and a deep amalgam of honey and toasty secondary development. Marmalade and musky botrytis detail unfolds adding to the interest. Medium-sweet to taste and medium-bodied, smooth and beautifully integrated flavours of ripe citrus fruits, yellow florals, honey and toast are melded with layers of marmalade and musk, forming a fine, elegantly concentrated core. The wine flows seamlessly, with smooth and near-creamy and unctuous textures balanced by very fine, ripe acidity and subtle, refined phenolics. The wine carries to a very long, lingering, smooth finish. This is a seamless, rich, finely concentrated medium-sweet Riesling with an array of citrus, floral, honied and toasty flavours. Serve as an aperitif or match with mildly spicy Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 5-6 years. Clone 239 fruit from the ‘Block 11’ high slopes of the ‘Greystone’ vineyard, hand-picked with 7.5% botrytis influence, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 24.8 g/L RS, TA 7.0 g/L and pH 3.27. 18.5+/20 May 2015 RRP $27.00
