Greystone Waipara Valley Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 24-Oct-2012
Brilliant, full, straw-yellow colour. Elegantly presented, vibrant and lively white florals and honeysuckle aromas are complexed by a little reductive flintiness, the aromatics still tightly bound, but very refined. Medium-sweet to taste and medium-light bodied, luscious and succulent flavours of exotic florals, limes and honey and enlivened by fresh, racy acidity. The mouthfeel is delicate and lively with excellent tension, and the flavours are carried through to a very long and sustained subtly luscious and rich finish with citrus, honey and flinty elements. This is a delicately luscious, medium-sweet Riesling with excellent liveliness. Match with Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine over the next 4-5+ years. Clone 239 fruit mainly from ‘Block 11', with a small portion of botrytised fruit, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 11.5% alc. and 30 g/L rs, the wine spending time on lees. 18.5+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $27.95
