Greystone Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 24-Oct-2012
Very full, very dark, deep, purple-hued red colour. This has a concentrated and very intense bouquet of tightly bound black and dark red berry fruits, along with complexing dark herbs, savoury stem and charry-reductive nuances, the nose just beginning to show some secondary interest. Full-bodied, this is richly concentrated and densely packed with succulently ripe black fruits, dark plums and notes of Asian spices, unfolding layers of dark herbs, liquorice and oak. The fruit sweetness is balanced by very refined tannins and fresh acidity, resulting in a bright, vibrant, elegantly textured mouthfeel which carries the flavours to a very long, lingering finish. This is a ripe, dark fruited Pinot Noir with intensity and concentration, supported by very fine structure. Match with Asian duck and pork dishes over the next 7-8 years. Hand-picked fruit indigenous yeast fermented with a small portion of whole bunches to 14.4% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 30% new French oak barrels. 18.5/20 Oct 2012 RRP $39.95
