Greystone Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 11-Feb-2016
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with some blush hues. The nose is very full and harmoniously concentrated with aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits melded with exotic florals, honeysuckle and complex nuances of flinty lees and nutty elements. Medium dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is softly packed with rich flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits, honey and exotic florals, along with complexing flint and nutty detail. This has a soft, unctuous mouthfeel balanced by fine-grained fruit extract textures. Gentle acidity enhances the roundness, weight and presence. The wine carries to a long finish of stonefruits and nuts, driven with some alcohol power. This is a rich, harmoniously concentrated, medium-dry Pinot Gris with layers of flavour, an unctuous mouthfeel and fine textures. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine, and firm cheeses over the next 4 years. Pinot Gris fruit fermented with 5% by indigenous yeasts in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc. and 9.5 g/L RS, the wine undergoing 2 months batonnage. 1,600 cases made. 19.0-/20 Feb 2016 RRP $25.00
