Greystone Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 23-Apr-2015
Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. The nose is softly full with up-front aromas of fresh, white stonefruits infused with chalky and flinty minerals, building in depth with aeration, releasing white floral notes. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly presented with softly packed, accessible white stonefruit flavours harmoniously melded with flint and minerals. This has a good core with weight and presence, the mouthfeel rounded and finely textured with discreet, underlying acidity. The wine carries to a dry, lingering finish of white stonefruits. This is a dry, elegantly presented and rounded Pinot Gris with stonefruit and minerally flavours. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. Fruit with a small portion boytytised, predominantly tank-fermented with some indigenous yeast fermentation in seasoned puncheons to 12.5% alc. and 3.2 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 17.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $27.00
