Greystone Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Feb-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with some lemon hues and depth, pale on edge. The bouquet is full with beautifully vibrant and lively fragrances of exotic florals, pears, honey and spices. Subtle aromatic complexities and detail unfold in the glass, along with very fine flinty lees elements. Medium-dry to taste, tightly bound and very fine, elegant flavours of florals, spices and honey form a concentrated core with an extremely fine-textured line. Refined acidity underlines the fruit with tension and liveliness. The aromatic flavours blossom, revealing stonefruit and hints of minerally lees complexities in waves of detail, and lead to a very long, sustained finish with aromatic spices. This is a medium-dry and elegant Pinot Gris with exotic fragrances and fruit flavours, and layers of interest. Serve with fine Asian cuisine over the next 4-5 years. Estate fruit stainless-steel fermented to 13.0% alc. and 12.5 g/L rs, the wine undergoing batonnage for 6 weeks. 19.0/20 Feb 2013 RRP $27.95
